The Trust provides a comprehensive ante natal care to patients with diabetes. Prevalence of gestational diabetes has consistently increased over many years in our area and our antenatal service is one of the largest services in England. The diabetes team provides pre conception care and ante natal care to patients with diabetes and also follow them up post partum as per the NICE guidelines. These clinics are supported by Consultant Diabetologists, Consultant Obstetricians, diabetes specialist midwives, midwifery support worker and dieticians, who work jointly as a multi-disciplinary team. All patients have ready access to radiology service. The diabetes team also provides supervision and referral service to the antenatal wards.
