The new therapies clinic primarily focuses on initiation of new diabetes treatments such as the GLP-1 analogues. Clinics are held every week and are led by Dr. Jayadave Shakher and supported by a specialist nurse. There is a clear pathway for initiation of GLP-1 analogues and training is provided to all patients at the time of initiation. Complex patients who require combination treatment with insulin are also assessed in these clinics and regularly reviewed. Referrals to this clinic can be made from primary or secondary care.
